New Visitor Management System Rolls Out

After working with a self-organized community group, hosting several community meetings and receiving expert review and recommendation, the school district is implementing a new visitor check-in system at all schools. Visitors will be requested to provide a government issued ID; this will be used to create an account for you in our system.

First Bravo! Jr. Award of the Year Goes to DHS Student

Our very first Bravo! Jr. Award of the 2018-2019 school year was presented to Kody Walton, a new student to Durango High School. He was nominated for showing respect and kindness in his willingness to go above and beyond to help others.

DHS Demon Deli

Durango High School offers a variety of healthy meal choices for students on the go. One of these options is our Demon Deli, which will celebrate its two-year anniversary in September 2018.

The Demon Deli offers homemade and healthy breakfast breads, yogurt parfaits, and Durango Joe’s coffee in the mornings, and locally sourced salads, sandwiches featuring Boars Head meats and cheeses, and local fruits during the lunch hour. At the Demon Deli, students can grab a healthy meal for under $6 without leaving campus.

Student IDs

Students will be issued IDs again this year. New 2018/19 IDs will be distributed following your school’s Fall picture day. IDs issued last year should be used in lieu of the new IDs until the new photos and IDs are produced. These IDs are important for safety and security, allow access to bus transportation services, can be used with City Transit and are required for school library use.

9-R Community Connection

Durango 9-R is updating our Friday Folder communications to save paper, staff time, and support our community partners. Starting this year, all Friday Folders (or Thursday Folders at some schools) will be reserved for school and district communications.

Own, Act, Impact to Prepare for the Future

Welcome back to another great school year in Durango! Whether your child is attending one of our 9-R schools, one of our charter schools, or one of our private education institutions, I have no doubt that a great year is ahead for him or her.
