Kids Eat Free!

The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture announced the extension of the free meals for kids aged 0-18 through as late as December 31, 2020. The flexibility allows Durango 9-R to operate the summer food service program, which makes free meals available to all children through the fall months. This unprecedented move will help ensure – no matter what the situation is on-the-ground – children have access to nutritious food as the country recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Attendance Guides and Instructions for Remote and Blended Learners

Hello 9-R Families,
On August 18th, 2020 the school board passed a resolution to help our district define our attendance policies and procedures for the 2020-2021 school year.

We know that the experience you had last year with the daily google form was cumbersome and inefficient so we are starting a new way for remote learners and blended learners to let us know they are “present” while away.

Meal Services Information

This year, with students both in schools and out, meal services will look a little different. Durango School District 9-R Student Nutrition program is working hard to create a healthier school nutrition environment for your children. We promote healthy eating by offering organic grass finished beef, organic apple products, whole grain foods, a variety of vegetables each week, salad bar, beans, no fried foods, fresh fruit selections everyday and of course, local sustainable foods whenever possible.

Kids' Camp Job Openings!

Durango School District 9-R’s after school enrichment program is hiring Program Site Coordinators, Aides, and Substitutes (pick your own schedule!) for the 2020/21 school year.

We are an enrichment program providing educational activities and fun for elementary school students after school. Positions begin ASAP and runs through June 3, 2021.

Freshman Demon Day, Thursday August 27th.

Freshmen Demon Day Orientation will be on Thursday, August 27th from 9am-11am. The purpose of Demon Day is to acquaint freshmen with the DHS campus, give them a chance to meet their teachers and meet their student cohort for the semester, as well as learn our COVID protocols and procedures. Buses will drop students off at DHS around 8:45am. Please drop your student off at DHS between 8:45am-9:00, as programming will begin at 9:00am. Students will be outside the majority of the time so please have them wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Face coverings are mandatory and will not be supplied. All student temperatures will be taken on site. We are very excited to welcome the class of 2024!

9-R Transportation Guidelines 2020/21

Durango School District 9-R Transportation Department will be making changes to routes in the 2020-2021 school year.

To ensure social distancing and in accordance with Colorado Department of Education and Federal guidelines concerning COVID-19 the Transportation Department will operate all buses at fifty percent (50%) capacity. This will mean a seventy-eight passenger bus will now transport 39 students at a time.
