New Student Tracking System for 9-R Buses

Durango School District 9-R is proud to announce the implementation of the Student Tracking System on our school buses. All students will be issued Student IDs this year that will work interactively with our bus tracking system, as well as other systems in the school, such as the library. Using the cards, students will scan when they get on and off the buses. This new safety feature allows the Transportation Department, our schools, parents, and guardians to follow bus schedules and routes, and whether or not their student is on the bus. With the Student Tracking System, the school district is able to increase its safety measures and identification processes for all students.

Adjusted School and Bus Schedule at DHS - 4/11/17

Due to the requirements from the state around PSAT and SAT testing, students who are not participating in the tests tomorrow will have a shortened school day; this usually includes all 9th and 12th grade students. Because of this, all 9th and 12th grade students will have a delayed start tomorrow, Tuesday, April 10, 2017.

Learn About Careers In The Outdoor Industry

Dear Female DHS DECA Members and parents who love the outdoors: This is an incredible opportunity to listen to/connect with/network with female leaders in the outdoor adventure industry.

We've had the organizer and Marketing Coordinator, Margaret Hedderman from Backcountry Experience appear as a guest speaker in Sports and Entertainment Marketing fall 2016 classes and she wants to invite all DECA members and students interested in this career pathway.

Males- you are invited too!!!.....But the focus is on women's engagement of these adventures.

PEAT's Diversity Dialogue

An opportunity is just around the corner that lends itself to increasing Unity in our CommUnity! The annual Diversity Dialogue on Saturday, March 18th is appropriate for mid school age through adult and we love to see all generations represented to have meaningful conversations about life in Life in La Plata County through a diversity-oriented lens.
An all day, experiential workshop to challenge what we think we know about ourselves and others.
Learn new communication and advocacy skills in a supportive, inter-generational setting.

Please freely share the attached poster and let me know if you would like a hard copy poster to hang in your office/public space. We encourage you think about youth you work with who may benefit from this experience and help them with transportation to the event if needed. Those who RSVP by March 10th will get a scrumptious free lunch provided by the City of Durango's Community Relations Commission. See you at Fort Lewis College for the event this year.
