COVID-19 Testing Pilot at Secondary Schools

Recently, Durango 9-R was approached by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to implement a COVID testing pilot at our school campus that will allow us to avoid sending cohorts into quarantine. In order to avoid cohort quarantines, we need 70% of our student body to sign up for testing.

COVID-19 Weekly Summary - 5.7.21

In the past week, a cohort at Miller Middle School, as well as specific students in a cohort from Durango High School, went into quarantine due to exposure to a positive COVID-19 case. We continue to be impressed with our students and our families, who have worked so hard to support all our mitigation efforts to keep school open, while also maintaining flexibility and adaptability throughout the school year to also find academic success and thank you!

9-R Public Budget Hearing

The 9-R Public Budget Hearing for the 2021/22 academic year budget will be on May 13, 2021 starting at 5:30 pm via Zoom. Come to learn more about how funds are allocated to schools to determine staffing, resources and services based on school enrollment, as well as other priorities in spending. Community Meet & Greet - Incoming Superintendent Dr. Karen Cheser

Incoming Superintendent, Dr. Karen Cheser, is hosting a community meet and greet on Wednesday, May 12 at 5:30 pm via Zoom. This is a great opportunity to hear from Dr. Cheser on her vision and initial plans when she begins in July, as well as ask her any questions you may have.

Cohorts to Quarantine - 4.28.21

On April 27 and April 28, 2021, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that an individuals at Durango High School, Miller Middle School and Needham COVID-19, causing a cohort(s) to quarantine. The school and the district are working proactively with the SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with these individuals.

Cohorts to Quarantine - 4.26.21

On April 26, 2021, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that individuals in cohorts at Durango High School and Miller Middle School tested positive for COVID-19, causing a seven (7) cohorts to quarantine. The school and the district are working proactively with the SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with this individual.

Cohorts to Quarantine - 4.22.21

On April 22, 2021, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that individuals in cohorts at Durango High School, Escalante Middle School, Park Elementary and Riverview Elementary tested positive for COVID-19, causing five (5) cohorts to quarantine. The schools and the district are working proactively with the SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with this individual.

Cohorts to Quarantine - 4.20.21

On April 20, 2021, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that individuals in cohorts at Durango High School and Riverview Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19, causing two (2) cohorts to quarantine. The schools and the district are working proactively with the SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with this individuals.
