About Mrs. Colsman

Mrs. Colsman grew up in Bayfield, CO where she lives currently with her husband Ben and three children; Emily, Caelyn, and Ethan.  She has three dogs, three cats, and a very large fish tank.  She and Ben bought her parents house in 2008 and she is excited to make her childhood home her own.  She loves having lots of friends and family over for celebrations.  Her hobbies include cooking, reading, pyrography, gardening, hiking, camping, hanging out with family and watching the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies or the Denver Nuggets

 

Mrs. Colsman graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fort Lewis College with a Bachelor of Art in US History in 2004.  She received a Masters of Education in Technology Integration and Curriculum Development from Grand Canyon University in 2007 graduating Magna Cum Laude.  Finally, she completed a Master's of Education in Educational Leadership in 2010 also graduating Magna Cum Laude.

 

She has been teaching for 15 years: two years at Mancos High School teaching history, coaching girl's track, and serving as the Activities/Athletic Director; two years at Shiprock High School teaching US History, Navajo History and Government, US Government/Economics, and World History;  three years at Kirtland Central High School teaching US Government, Economics, Advanced Placement US Government, and a new course...Criminal Justice/Mock Trial.  Finally, Mrs. Colsman came Durango School District 9-R where she has served as the IB MYP coordindator, yearbook advisor, social studies teacher, and now, academic advisor.
