Sophomores and juniors qualify based on their performance on eligible administrations of the PSAT/NMSQT®, PSAT™ 10, or AP® Exams and a GPA of B+ (equal to at least 3.3 or 87%-89%) or higher. Students must attend high school in a rural area or small town, or identify as first generation, African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, or Native American/Indigenous. Recipients of this award are often recruited by colleges and celebrated by their communities.
The College Board National Recognition Program recognizes the hard work of top-performing DHS students in four academic awards:
• National First-Generation Recognition Program - 11 DHS students
• National Hispanic Recognition Program - 18 DHS students
• National Indigenous Recognition Program - 6 DHS students
• National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program - 104 DHS students.
