Congratulations to this month's FORTitude Award winner!

Ines was nominated by DHS teacher Leigh Gozigian and her fellow teachers in the social studies department. In her nomination Leigh complimented Ines on her politeness, always being on time, and never submitting late work. She wrote, "Ines started at DHS in September of 2015. She had just moved from Mexico and her English was limited. Despite these challenges, she has emerged as one of my best students. Her ability to write in English is remarkable. This development is a testament to her perseverance."

In recognition of her hardwork, Ines was presented with a $500 scholarship to Fort Lewis College by their Director of Admission Andy Burns. The FORTitude Award also comes with a wide variety of FLC experiences that the student recipients can choose from, including guest dj-ing at the college’s radio station KDUR, guest passes to the Student Life Center, tickets to a home game, and chances to meet student athletes and the student body president. Ines will also be recognized on a Student of the Month plaque at DHS and in the DHS Newspaper, El Diablo.
