Sienna Rogers was named State Champion in Medical Assisting and qualified for the Hosa International Leadership Conference. Rogers also placed 4th in Job Seeking Skills. Rye Standifer and Celia Gallavan earned a State Championship in Forensic Science and will also advance to the international competition.
“This is what happens when preparation meets purpose,” said Kyle Montgomery, Health Science Pathway Teacher and Coordinator at Durango High School. “These students didn’t just win medals, they demonstrated clinical precision, leadership, and the heart of true future health professionals. Their success represents a culture of excellence within our Health Science Pathway and sets the standard for competing and serving at the highest level.”
Grayson Farnsworth placed second in Medical Math and qualified for Internationals. Isabella “Bella” Archuleta took third place in Dental Terminology, and Madelyn Agre earned third place in Medical Assisting. Both also qualified for Internationals.
Several additional DHS students placed in the Top 10 in Colorado in their competitive events:

- Pierson Spain – Clinical Specialty
- Payton Woods, Scarlett Ramsey and Parker Dastrup – Community Awareness (EKG Drives)
- Grayson Farnsworth and Milo Deem – Forensic Science
Delia Bong was also recognized as a Pacesetter Award recipient, which honors a member that has demonstrated outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to Hosa’s mission during the year.
Hosa- Future Health Professionals is an international organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education that develops future healthcare leaders through integrated classroom learning, leadership training, and service. Founded in 1976, it now serves more than 200,000 members worldwide.
Durango High School students will represent Colorado at the Hosa International Leadership Conference June 17-20 at the Indianapolis Convention Center in Indianapolis.
“This is more than a win for our school. It’s a win for our community and the patients they will one day care for,” said Montgomery. “I’m proud of all 130 Hosa members and 350 students who strive to improve daily to be a better future health professionals.”
