DHS Fall Sports Update

Working with San Juan Basin health, Mercy Sports Medicine, and district leadership we evaluated the challenges of participating in athletics in unprecedented times. Since the start of school, four sports have been actively competing, which includes tennis, golf, softball and cross country. Following all the safety guidelines and measures these sports have been able to continue without impacts to our cohort models. We feel confident that we can implement and support the safety guidelines outlined by the State of Colorado, Colorado High School Activities Association, and Durango 9-R.

Some of those safety measures include limited spectator participation, masks when not actively playing, proper sanitization processes and physical distancing when not at play. These measures have supported the continuation of school as well as many other fall sports, such as soccer and gymnastics.

We look forward to a great season and appreciate your support of our safety requirements.

We are excited that our student-athletes will have the opportunity to participate in more fall sports this season! If you have questions, please contact the athletics office at 970- 259-1630 x2302.
