Students Recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program

About 20% of the student base participated in the 2018 SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), with more than 1.5 million students across the country participating.  Of those, DHS had eight (8) students who placed in the top 50,000 and received a commendation, and of the eight, one became a semi-finalist to go on to potentially receive the scholarship.  All of these students are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for the program entry.

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC.

The Commended Students are:

  • Rebecca Bowers
  • Clara Galbraith
  • Anna Klumpenhower
  • Carson Matz
  • Irie Sentner
  • Kaylan Wait
  • Georgia Witchel

And the 2019 Semifinalist is:

  • Madeleine Burns

Some 16,000 of the 50,000 qualified as semi-finalists, making the group even more elite.

We wish a hearty congratulations to all these scholastically talented seniors!  Way to go!
