Graduation Guidelines Proposed for Class of 2021

Grant to Help Durango High School DECA

Durango High School DECA is pleased to announce the receipt of a generous grant from For the Future Foundation, the 501 c-3 non-profit of Swan Global Investments in Durango, Colo. This grant will play a role in providing an assistant DECA advisor for the 16-17 school year, as well as support the hidden cost associated with substitute teachers while DECA travels. It will also allow DECA to install a display case to showcase student achievements such as awards and trophies earned in competition.

DHS Welcomes Dr. Ryan Haaland

On November 3 from 10:00am-11:00am, Dr. Ryan Haaland, Department Chair of the Engineering/Physics program is visiting Durango High School to engage with students and provide students with information on the FLC Engineering/Physics program as well as the NEW Computer Engineering program. Students interested in learning about the unique opportunities Fort Lewis College has to offer and to also ask questions about career and graduate school opportunities should sign up to meet with him at the Guidance Office.

Demon Cares Closet

Originating in the counseling department at DHS, the new Demon Cares Closet, run and managed by counseling secretary Melinda Wood, offers students a new opportunity to stock their closet, bathroom and school supplies, when they otherwise may not have the means to do so.

Winter Sports- Red Cards Are Due on November 11th.

Deadline for registering for Winter sports at DHS is Friday, November 11, 2016. Winter sports includes Girls & Boys Basketball, Girls Swim and Diving, Wrestling, while Cheer and Dance teams continue from the Fall season. All red card information and forms are available from the DHS website under the Athletics tab, or in the Athletics/Activities office and includes proof of current physical, proof of insurance, medical consent form, Athletics/Activities Code of Conduct signatures and registration fee. Those students who have registered for a Fall Sport may use paperwork already on file in the Athletics Office for their Winter sport participation. DHS Launches Demon Deli

Two Durango High School DECA members won second place in Creative Marketing Project at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) DECA conference held in Nashville, Tennessee April 23 to 26, 2016 for their project about a new healthy grab-and-go lunch option at Durango High School, the Demon Deli. Mason Stetler and Jared Webster, the winning duo, wrote a 30-page marketing plan on the Demon Deli and presented their plan to Nashville business leaders.
